Jennifer has eleven years of experience in counseling and has a wide range of experience with mental health and behavioral disorders in a variety of treatment settings.
Included in her clinical experience is work on crisis stabilization units, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, inpatient substance abuse treatment centers, outpatient mental health clinics, and inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment in correctional settings. These unique settings provided her an opportunity to gain extensive experience with patients who are experiencing a crisis and varying degrees of trauma.
Although her specialty is in the area of Post traumatic Stress Disorder, she feels confident in treating patients with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, co-occurring disorders, gender issues, adjustment disorders, and grief/loss.
Jennifer utilizes a blend of treatment approaches based on the individual clients need with primary approaches being Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution-Focused, and Reality Therapy. She believes that developing a strong therapeutic alliance with her clients is essential in facilitating change and often integrates humor and creativity into her sessions.
